Located on Fifth Avenue in downtown New Kensington, The Corner LaunchBox has helped a majority of the businesses on its own street, and in return, has helped revitalize the town’s business district. The innovation space has directly helped or interacted with more than 80% of small businesses within the downtown corridor, providing programing, business advice, networking events and other resources to the community.
A four-part webinar series will tackle important legal topics and issues specific to startups and small businesses, such as liability, partnerships, funding opportunities and intellectual property.
Entrepreneurs across the University will pitch their business ideas and create inventive solutions to common problems through a series of competitions and challenges held during Penn State Startup Week from April 1-5. The challenges are at the heart of Startup Week’s mission of teaching and inspiring participants to make innovation a part of their lives, communities and careers, either by starting their own companies or bringing a problem-solving approach to established organizations.
Those at Penn State New Kensington and in the surrounding Alle-Kiski Valley community are invited to explore their ideas at the upcoming 10-week Corner Launchbox Opportunity Accelerator course to be held at the campus’ innovation hub, The Corner, in February through mid-April.
Rhonda Schuldt has joined Penn State New Kensington as innovation coordinator in the campus innovation hub, The Corner, located in downtown New Kensington. Her goals for the campus and The Corner include connecting the campus and New Kensington community, as well as providing and linking resources to students, faculty, staff, startups, small businesses and community members.
